Stardust by Don Wensel

Postby George_G » Sun Jun 10, 2012 10:13 pm

Good day to all,

I am looking for information about Don Wensel's Stardust, FAI model from 1956. I plan to create an AutoCAD plan of this model and would like to get any information that is out there. If someone knows of Don Wensel, I would like to chat with them or even better if Don is still with us.

Thanks,

George Gilbert

So, more than one hundred views and no one who can help with a little information. That's to bad. I have about half of the plan completed now, I will post a picture of it soon just to tease you all...

George,
I found this on Outerzone plan website:

It may be the one you were sent...not sure.

it is a very nice looking FAI gassie!

Lee,

That is the plan I am working with. Are you going to be up to the August contest in Tangent this year?
hope to see you there for at least one of the contests

Don't know about plans but I do recall seeing pics of Lynn Pulley flying a Stardust about 5-6 years ago, maybe he can be of help.

Yes, I have seen Lynn flying one.But it was big like Class B or C,I do belive he put it in the ground last Nov. but he had done well with it in the past.

CliffT,

That sure takes the fun out of it... Thanks for posting. Guess I'll pick another design to draw up.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ok all,

I'm looking for an airplane design from yersteryear to draw, or redraw, that:

1) NFFS does not already have a plan of.
2) No one else who sells plans seems to have either.

Rather simple other than finding such a design. I thought I had found one in Wensel's Stardust.

Still no thoughts from anyone.

I have had one airplane design (Eastwind) published in the NFFS Free Flight Digest magazine and one more on the way.
I would like to do more...

Seems a lot of people are watching this thread, or just a few, all the time. I have begun working on the Stardust again, why not... I shall post a teaser of it shortly...

So nobody has any ideas of a model? Not just FAI, can be Nostalgia or power, I've also be working on another "B" power model Plan...

George,
I have a model that you might like. It's called the "Start".It is a 1954 cabin model 1\2A size, came from a web site.I've drawn it on plain paper (full size) so Marty Thompson and I could build it.I have a small copy from the original article which shows a diesel motor.I've changed the nose to fit a Holland Hornet.I'll look for the web site so you can see a picture of it .
