Epoxy vs. urethane

Postby D Kargol » Mon May 12, 2008 12:01 pm

Does urethane paint have the same fuel proof ability as epoxy? Does anyone have any experience with these?

If you mean 2 part mixed polyurethane like auto painters use, I
believe the answer is Yes.
But as for hobbyist or HomeDepot urethane brands, I kind of doubt it.
I will be interested when the chemists among us give us their take.

Hi Denny!

I noticed KlassKote now offers a 2 pt. urethane clear coat. See: http://klasskote.com/pro1078581.html
The price was about the same as the epoxy, so I decided to stay with the KK epoxy.

For a fuel proof (25%) rattle can, I've been happy with Topflite LustreKote.
