Hello all. I have a few 1/2A cox motors I’m going to use and I was curious about what source of fuel for those engines people are using now. I’ve been raising kids for the last couple of decades and just started to get some flying items out. I see that Cox has all but disappeared. I have some old cox fuel, but it’s over a couple of years old, and I’m suspect if it wouls still be good..Thanks for any help…

I have had good service from both Red Max and Sig. They are online. 🙂

Definately Red Max as they have provided fuel for the junior teams for years…They will make what you want, if you need something special also…

I have ordered some from them, they had great information!! What is the typical nitro % for average sport flying typically?

We need to know the engine that you’re gonna run.
If its the TD 020, I’d run at least 35% pop.

My two-cents worth… I fly all my cox engines on 35% nitro Sig fuel, I don’t burn plugs and have reasonable RPM ranges to fly competitive in the various events. The main thing a cox engine needs is a small amount of castor oil. I have run as high as 70% nitro with 13% propoline oxcyde which pushed the poor little engines right to the breaking point. But was it really worth it…
