    Good evening all,

I managed to score a couple AME .049’s.

One appears to be an older with a “bathtub” venturi. The other resembles the Norvells and proclaims itself to be an AME MkII

I have some experience with Tee Dee .049/.051’s and Fox .049’s, but have no idea as to where to start with these engines.

Where can one get gaskets, cylinder and head shims for these?

Also, I can use any suggestions as to how to set these engines up. I have fuels from 15% to 65% nitro and a couple steps in between.

    Just moving into “modern” engines.

Surely someone out there has some experience with these engines.

    Kinda disappointing response. 🙁 🙁

I ran one for several years. I settled on an APC 5.5×2 w/ 35% nitro. It made a bit over 27000 rpm. I had my best results with the stock glow head. I did need to turn the glo-driver into the red band for reliable starts.

I don’t know if you could get Larry Driskill to work on it. He has some on ukie combat planes that turn about 31k. He said it takes 2 nights at the workbench to make ’em do it.

    Hope this helps a bit.
