This is maybe a follow-up to Al Lidberg’s post –
I’m ready to begin finishing my Thermic 72 (finally!)
I want to spray colored dope on the pod to match the wings. Two questions –
    1. I’m assuming it won’t hurt to use the same anyline dye to color that dope as I use for the Polyspan, am I right?
    2. What do you think the best primer/finish would be for the wood in preparation for the colored dope? I think something white to get good color. But it might look good over a clear primer too.
    Thanks for any feedback.

    On the bare wood:
2 coats dope-same type as on the wing.
    Sand with 220 paper
    One more coat dope.
    Sand with 320.
    Spray the colored/tinted dope.
Be careful with the aniline dye. You don’t want breathe that stuff.
You might consider topcoating with one coat clear after color is applied.

I don’t imagine that blushing is a big problem out there.

    Thanks Dan,
Ordinarily blushing wouldn’t be a problem. With our summer monsoon storms though it is a different story. This morning the humidity was 88% in my yard. Normally, it’s around 12 – 15%. It poured over the weekend.

But it’ll be back to 12% tomorrow, won’t it?
If you apply dope at 88% humidity you’ll most likely get a blush.
