ParticipantThis is the enginethat I have picked for the C gas model- It is an older K&B .35- Steel liner and cast piston- great front end set up.
I wanted to use the FAI style mounting for the engine and made the new back plate/adapter. I also needed a spinner so made a new backplate to accept the ST .29 spinner. Also needed a venturi so made up one that basically has the dimensions that I have always used on the Rossi- .343 ID and then the normal internal radii.
The original head was lacking a few thread for the plug so what better time than to make an updated one that will accept a Nelson plug. Plus, I went with a hemi chamber- This sometimes works OK on a baffled engine so I will see what it does. All in all, about 4 hours plus of machining but it at leasts looks cool.
Now to finish the airplane and wait for summer (I always disregard spring here in Wisconsin!)….

ParticipantJust waiting for my delivery of unobtanium to make the “special” parts for it….The turbo-supercharger should boost the HP up to the levels that have never been seen….I anticipate the ability for it to start AND run….
Happy New Years to the Shailinators…..

ParticipantHey John, I may have some flexible unbendium you could use.

ParticipantIs that the Grade 4A or Grade 4B unbendium? I used the photothesis style on the Wen Mac when adding the turbo supercharger and found that the bilateral momentum was irrevelent to the cross line and had problems with proper convolutanous….
Oh yeah, the glow plug was bad too….Figure that one out Berry…

Sorry, it Grade 44DD with high silicone content for easy handling, still might work though, it garanteed not to sag under load.

ParticipantHey – Wait a minute there John !! I believe I put in a request for the first hopped up Wen Mac some time ago. and that was before I knew you were going to use unbendium (regardless of what grade). Money is no object here – and besides I have an old plug you can use

ParticipantGetting back to engines, I’m curious as to the performance you got from your .35. I have a .40 of the same series and I’m wondering if it is worth it to try and get more out of it.

ParticipantHi Steve…
As compared to a modern schnuerle engine, it is definately down in power. However, it is a vey nice running engine with no bad manners. I had a 40 on a home grown C gas madel that was pretty stout, even at 750 square inches. Personally, I like them!
