How many coats of thinned (50/50) Nitrate dope ,brushed on, over tissue for a good seal?
Much depends upon the porosity of the tissue and the quality of the dope.
I use nitrate as 25%, plus 25% lacquer thinner and 50% nitrate thinner .. and occasionally a drop of two of castor oil if I remember it. Flows on almost like water and ‘fills’ Japanese tissue very well, with maybe three coats for general use with rubber models … on material such as might silkspan – maybe a couple more
