Where can you find the results of the European Championships Contest on the internet?

Perhaps we should have an Americas Championships Contest and exclude the Europeans? Of course we could not exclude the European built models for that contest, otherwise no one would show up.

But anyhow I still like to see the results even if we were not allowed to participate.

    Dave,

I could be wrong, but the European Championships do not neccessarily exclude Americans, it is just that it is held in Europe. I believe any properly credentialed FAI competitor can compete. 🙂 🙂

    Hello Dean

I could be wrong, but from what I read, the guys here wanted to compete and were told it was only for Europeans!

Results from the pre-European Championships Open International can be found at :-

    http://www.fai.org:81/aeromodelling/competitions/free_flight/wc06/WR06f1BS.htm

Results from the champs themselves can be found at :-

The European Champs are for European countries only as defined by, I think, the IOC and accepted by the FAI. Accordingly the fact you have a valid FAI license provides no automatic entry as the FAI sends invitations only to the relavent bodies (in the UK this is the Royal Aero Club). The situation is no different for sports such as football, athletics, baseball etc where their European championships are not open to people outside that geographical grouping. The same situation applies for PamAmerican games etc.

If I remember correctly some US flyers wanted to go to the site to check it out prior to next years World Champs at the same venue. This has been possible via the Open Internationals held over the last two years and I understand at least one US flyer went this year. A similar visit was made in 2002 to Hungary prior to the 2003 World Champs and I understand this worked well.

I checked out the results link, and found the information to be very good!

It looks like they are well prepared to host the World Championships next year.

“It looks like they are well prepared to host the World Championships next year.”

As I understand it, yes they are. The biggest issue I have been told about is the surface of the flying field. This is very rough, has few tracks across it and lots of holes. One GB flyer broke his arm after falling down one of these holes and retrieval is difficult. This affected the way some flyers towed, preferring to do limited running around, and may have had a effect on the limited fly off numbers.

A GB F1C flyer also put his model in the Black Sea (only 2.5 miles away) after a DT failure but did get it back after deft retrieval by the team.
