ParticipantI am looking for engines to replace my TD .049 and .051’s for classic gas. Does any one know anything about the GRS engines, sizes, prices, where avaiable. I know the Cyclon is the engine of choice, but I am looking for something a little less in price. Any other suggestions as to engines for 1/A Classic gas.
Thanks,

InactiveIf you go to http/:www.glidetek.com you will find information on the GRS engine, 135 bucks and comes in one size only 061 (1cc).
If cost is an issue, consider the Norvel 049 and 061 glo’s but fit them with Galbreath heads and Nelson plugs instead of the standard gear. 8)

ParticipantI went to GlideTEK’s website and found no mention of this engine except as a complete package for a pre-build F1B 🙁

InactiveI have to tread carefully with my comment but the GlideTek site needs some refining but if you go back to the site click on “Free flight” then “F1J” then click on “Folding props” you will find reference to the engine and a picture there. Like I said the navigation clarifying. 😉

InactiveI do have two of the GRS engines still in stock. My website address is:
http://www.glidetek.com/freeflight/f1j/FoldProps.asp
The nice thing about this engine, besides being almost as hot as the Cyclon, is the integrated flood off. A nice fitting in the side of the venturi.
I also have mounts for both the Cyclon and GRS which allows for quick change of engines. Loosen one clamp screw, and slide in the next engine. Great for switching between 1/2 A (.8cc) and .061, 1cc.
I do have a special on these last two engines, so get in touch.

InactiveThere is a new engine coming out soon and was just shipped. It is also from the Ukraine and made by Profi. Upright nva and intake with side mounted cyliner . It is made for FF and uc combat. Shipment has been sent from overseas and should be here soon. Should be as good as Cyclon. Priced very similar and has radial mount. cheers,Dan
PS; it is a 1/2A engine BB and all the goodies.

ParticipantDan,
Went to speed site. No 1/2A engine unless it is buried in some of the files. I browsed a few and could find no listing of this engine. Could you please give a more detailed URL, or the website of the source?
Thanks 🙂

ParticipantDean,
Go to the speed site, then go to the forum where you will find a discussion about this engine. In the discussion is a website that has some pics. The discussion itself has some good info.

ParticipantThe GRS is somewhat down on power as compared to the Cyclon. However, for the price, for an AMA class model, it will be just fine. Run a 5 7/8 x 2.5 prop on it (maybe even a folder, as they may seem costly to begin with but you will only need one!) and let her go! After a brief run in, put 50% in it…

InactiveJust went to Doug Galbreath’s site and note that a new Cyclon (either size) is now $190 with the head and plug tools costing an extra 12 bucks….Wow!
The price being offered by Dave of Glidetek for the GRS is value for money.
