Good day fellow flyers! After my K&B 6.5 locked up at the Muncie contest on Aug. 28th I finally got a chance to tear it apart to see what happened. Will it appears that all I need and a new piston and connecting rod!!! If any of you know of or have a replacement I’d be very interested in buying it from you. I am shooting for the King Orange contest in late Dec. to have it ready for competition.

    Thanks, Scott

Well, after Mike Thompson was kind enough to let me purchase a piston, rod, and sleeve for my thought to be K&B 6.5 the surprises continue!!! After receiving the components from Mike I was comparing the piston fit with the current one and found it to be quite a bit smaller than the one that was in the engine? Well I said to myself “SELF” I wonder if this could be a 7.5 sleeve, piston, and rod that had been installed into a 6.5 case??? So I tried to find the bore and stroke for each and could only find the 7.5 info. It stated that the bore should be .870″ dia. Went out and measured the I.D. of the sleeve and without getting out my trusty calibers out it sure looked really close to you guest it .870″ dia. Now after looking over the Mecoa web sight I found that there is a crank shaft listed for the 7.5 and 6.5. This got be questioning if there is a different stroke also? Can anyone tell me what the bore and stroke should be for the K&B 6.5 so I can compare to what the 7.5 states. I bought this engine off of Ebay so no telling what had been modified!!

    Thks, Scott

    Scott,
    the bore on K&B 40’s are .840

if your piston measures less then it is not from a 6.5.
