Bob White said we would have Moffett at the Isaacson and he would be the event director, as he did with Nos Wake. Well, Bob left us holding the bag and I can’t find the flight maxes in the AMA rulebook. Those of you that fly the event, can you tell me what format you’re seeing out there? Also, it looks like ROG is optional?

    Thanks,

Norm- missing Mr. White in more ways than one.

    Norm,
The first three flights are two minutes each, and then go up 1 minute per flight thereafter.
All flights must have a three point takeoff

Thanks, Bill. Is that info written somewhere?

Dean – the way I fly, flying is optional, too!

    Thanks, guys

    Norm,
In the AMA rules, Outdoor Free Flight Rubber section 4.1
Cat I is three 5 minute maxes
Cat II is three 3 minute maxes and
Cat III is three 2 minute maxes.
Flyoff’s, regardless of category, go up in one minute increments, section 7.1
    Hope this helps!

    OK Bill,
I read 4.1, but it only addresses Autogiro, Ornithopter, and Helicopter and not Moffett? Mulvi is in 4.2 and P-30 has it’s own. Am I missreading the book? I’m using the AMA website rule book. The times sound reasonable but I was hoping to find times specifically for Moffett.

    Thanks ๐Ÿ˜€

    Norm,
I see what you mean. Moffett should be included in the list. That is the only event not having its own flight times.

Thanks again Bill. In the past if there were questions I would send them to Bob White. Bob could say anything and no one would challenge him. Doesn’t work for me!

OK guys, it’s 3 years later and I’m still having a problem with Moffett maxes.
Some are telling me it’s a 2 min. max. and others are doing 2,3 then 4. The rule book is still vague on Moffett.

Has a standard been set? If yes, how about someone writing a rules proposal for the next cycle?!

I’ve been using Cat. II, 3 mins. and that seems reasonable.

    Thanks!

I was lurking around and I can see that you guys are into competition.

I’m having a postal contest at the rubber-power web site and I was wondering if someone could give me feedback on the rules.

I guess I need rules but I don’t know where to start.

Any ideas? Anybody want to be a contest directory?
