Hi Scott,
I will assume that it is the newer ‘split case’ MVVS, rather than the older D7 model.
This would come under the ‘fairly powerful’, descriptor I think, rather than being a true Nelson competitor. They are a trifle heavy, but it should give what you want, especially if you use a little nitro. A Nelson plug head would probably help, too. If it is the ‘split case’ engine it can be assembled with a side or rear exhaust, but rear exhaust makes everything inside line up better. This is from memory only – I haven’t seen one for about 15 years – but what I’ve just said implies there’s a spare transfer cavity in the lower case, doesn’t it? In which case finding a way to block that up would be of possible benefit.
The older D7 came as a glow, too, but was better known as a diesel, and was really very good for it’s time (late 60’s/early 70’s). It really only lost out when F1C went to a 7 sec run and the all-conquering Rossi 15 reigned supreme. The Czechs did very well with them in a number of World Champs.
I’ve rambled enough!
John
