InactiveHi all, I’m Phil Smith, I live in New Zealand and have been flying most FF power classes for over 35 years. I’ve just joined this forum and am looking forward to reading about and seeing lots of FF.
Hopefully there’s a picture attached of me launching an F1C at the Omarama Cup a few weeks ago….Cheers,
Phil.

ParticipantHi Phil, welcome to the site. How is Rex? Regards, Howard.
Can’t get a pic on, says they are too big.

InactiveHi Howard, long time no see…..
Rex is fine, I flew Nostalgia with him and the rest of the gang last weekend at Hamilton. Perfect weather and lots of fun. I flew a CREEP/OS15. He and George are pushing the NOS classes quite hard, having just formed a special interest group (part of the NZMAA vintage committee) to promote it more. Are we likely to see you over here again soon?Phil.

ParticipantHamilton weather sounded good for NOS.
Can’t get NOS going here, OZ-Vintage is too strong–but our Vintage is good though, and guess that’s about my main thing on the F/F front, but l still have some old F1Cs that go okay for Open Power.
Have a Creep, TD09, when l thought there was a chance for NOS here.
lt’s all trimmed and flys well, and even ‘touched base’ with Brian Egleston on the email, re.dating the one in Aeromodeller—it’s ’55, but there were earlier ones too, but different. Will come your way, one day, but don’t know when, maybe in 4 years for the Trans Tasman, but then again who knows, maybe sooner?
Not doing a lot of flying, have been into PWC (Jet Ski) for 14 years now and the last 2 or 3 years, that’s been the main thing.
Gave Rex a go, on my previous one when he was last over here.Have results of recent Trans Tasman—-tough game that F1C, on 5secs engine run. Afraid it’s all to much for me now.
Say hi to Rex. Cheers for now, gos.

ParticipantWhere does one get plans for the CREEP? 😕 😕

InactiveHi Eizan, it’s good to hear from you. I’m still very active in HGL and a little CLG. I’m going to have a go at discus launch, but our chucky rules don’t allow it in competition. I’m still active in F1C, though not many opportunities to compete over here.
I fly a lot of control line and enjoy F2B with several locals and have a very good flying site close by. When you next visit, I’ll take you to meet them and I will have a model for you to fly (CL or FF).Regards to your wife and daughter, it would be nice to meet you all again…..

InactiveI have no idea where you can buy them, I’ve got an old original MAP plan. I can get it copied and post it to you.

ParticipantOr if you PM me your addy I can scan through the 1/4 scale plan in the 1955 Aeromodeller to you.
I simply built my Creep by scaling the plan direct on to wood—-it’s quick easy build that can use a motor up to 3.5cc by the original plan.
My Tee Dee 09 model is not a rocket ship, but is light and flys well, but I think like Phil uses would be the best way to go.
Brian Egleston told me recently that the Oliver Tiger was a popular engine to use in the 50s so the OS15 being lighter would be good.
I built a little incidence into mine too—the plan shows zero-zero, bit too dangerous for me.

InactiveHere’s a pic of the Creep I fly. It was built by my good friend and mentor John Templeman, who is suffering from severe Parkinsons. I try to fly it at least once a year in his memory (even tho he’s still alive…..) I hope he doesn’t get to read this…. 😳
John powered it with a COX Conquest, but never flew it (phew)
OS 15III pulls it up well

ParticipantMy old Creep – built in 1979 – was put to rest only a few weeks ago after showing the ravages of almost 27 years of service; originally with Torpedo .15GH, later Max II .15. Pic is 20 yrs old, airplane still had my SMAE number on it.

Participant1/2A Nostalgia version, now lying in the depth of a huge US beanfield for past two months; hope to get at least the engine back when the leaves fall after first frosts… the one power model I hadn’t got around to making accommodation for a tracker bug .. naturally ….
Also have a 1/4A Nostalgia version.

ParticipantFront end of Cox Tee Dee .09 powered Creep.
Thought I may as well get in on the act.Sorry to hear about John T. Rex Bain had mentioned this to me some time ago.
I remember John at the NZ Trans Tasman in ’78—-think he may have flown a Night Train?[/img]

ParticipantGos – beware the little hook on the end of the wire skid. There’ll come a time when you take off the plug leads and they’ll hang up on it, pulling down the nose so that the spinning prop takes chunks out of your hand. Cost me a trip to the emergency department of the local hospital .. and that was only a TD049. All hooks now removed from skids.

ParticipantMmmmmm, easy to chop it off—will do—thanks, had never thought about that one.
