Anybody investigated the legality of launching an OT HLG discus style in competition?
There were some pretty big gliders designed from that era that may benefit from a tip launch.

Then the question must be asked of the suitability for tip launch of an OT HLG that doesn’t have the currently preferred sub-rudder and V-stab configuration for tip launch.

Sure, some of my SoCal chums tried it last year before SAM Champs.
Dick Peterson even found one with the Y tail group but it was too
short-bodied to work, as I recall.
I think the Hervath straight, not the swept wing one, was found to
be of some good with tip launch.

The case rests, at this stage, so try it!

    Ciao,
    Leeper
