What designs have you had success with?

I am looking for plans of OTHLG and OTCLG. Where other than the old Zaic yearbooks can I find some plans?

Another question, The Vartanian, what is the flat wingspan of this? I have the downloaded plans, but there is no scale on them.

    Dave,

I don’t know if it counts as ‘official old-time’, but one of the best classic flyers I’ve built is ‘Polly’ by Bill Blanchard. She was ol’ reliable in my fleet until a year ago when I decided there were more repairs on her than solid balsa…!! 😆 So, she’s retired now. I built her from a Campbell’s Kit; they use excellent balsa and you get some pre-shaping to a degree, which helps get them together fast. Campbell’s has a bunch of HLG’s and a couple of CLG’s.

I know that there are some old-time plans on The Plan Page: http://www.theplanpage.com/.

There is a listing of plans from Rocco Ferrario which shows the Vartanian as a 12″ span.

By the way, where did you get the Vartanian plan…? I can’t seem to track that one down!! Thanks,

The Vartanian plan that I have is the outdoor OT catpult version:

What is the cutoff year for the OT glider events?

Does SAM have any in their plans?

    Dave,

Here you go; right off the SAM website:

    http://www.antiquemodeler.org/2006%20Rule%20Book/Freeflight_rules.htm#V

    1. Hand Launch Glider – Hand Launch Glider models that were designed kitted or published prior to December 31, 1942 are allowed.
