I’m starting a 310 sq. in. Pilfered for an .061 F-engine. Anyone have any experience with this model? Any hints on trimming? Thank you.

There’s a guy from Oklahoma who flys one. Its got got a 049. Expect it to very fast and very steep.
All the usual stuff for trim—left thrust,wash-in on the right main. Keep the wing rigid. It takes a long time to DT out of big air.

The P.Pearl is a great ship at any size. I know a few people who fly the heck out of em. I’m building a 522 for next season and will have a OS 25 VFDF on the nose…Good Lord, what am I thinking…?

    You’d better be thinking quickly.

I’ve heard of the pilfered Pearl and the Mini,Midi Pearl, and Pearl Express, can one of you experts tell me what the difference is?

    Thanks, Scott

Mini, Midi and Maxi were basically the same design in different sizes. I flew them all with success – the Midi with a ST23 is a moving machine but the Maxi with KB40 was my favourite. Handled power very well but the glide suffered a little due to the low aspect ratio (6) though not too noticeably on the Maxi.

There was also the big Mother of Pearl for .60s, which I had ready for doping but had to leave behind in England. Express and Pilfered are subsequent developments of the design.

Pilfered Pearl has geodetics and a 5 panel wing. The geometry is a bit different to help with the extra power. Regular Pearls have a rigidity problem.

    Hey Dennis,
I’m going to build one of those too. 😀 My current 1/2a’s will make nice fire kindling for the cold winter.

Dan, thanks for the description and differences of construction. Can you tell me what the 5 panel wing brings to the performance party?

    Stronger center section.
I think its easier to seat the wing onto the pylon as well. I have started using 5 panels on the Marvals as per Marvin’s advice. I’m happy with the results.
