Prop hubs can sometimes get stuck on the tapered collet clamp making it difficult to remove the hub from the motor shaft. Has anyone bought or made a hub puller?
I’m thinking of a tool with metal fingers which grip on the backside of the hub; then a threaded portion with a good size screw pressing on the collet body. Easier to sketch than describe.

The one I have is made by General. I bought it over twenty years ago but I’ve seen similar tools at True Value. 🙂

Dear honch, Thanks for your idea. However, my problem has now reduced to just one part. I use a Hyperion 3 mm-to-5mm prop adaptor on one of my models; in conjunction with a Jennings hub. Everthing is good except the conically tapered aluminum parts of the prop adaptor stick together upon tightening. The solution may be some kind of solid lube on the tapered surfaces.
Any ideas for a lube for aluminum parts in high pressure contact?

Anti-seize like permatex (loctite) is an option, but You would probably end up with the tell-tale silver smudges all over Your model (hands, face, clothing, friends, family, pets 😳 ) Another alternative, although a bit more costly, is white lithium grease. A little goes a loooong way. Good luck.

I found a puller tool which is very effective for getting stuck shaft adapters removed. Check it out here:
