For anyone that is interested I have 50 new prop hubs. They are $15 each.

    Hi Jim,

I’m interested. How heavy are they? Is this something that can be used for E36? Looks like the prop and blades would add up to quite a high percentage of the 150 grams minimum.

    John,

Jim’s hubs work very well for E-36. I now use them on my two E-36 models vs. homemade plywood hubs.
No rework needed. The 3 mm center hole fits with either IPS or LPS motor. Use the 3 mm adapter supplied with the IPS.

    Weight:

    Jennings hub:

2.70 grams including prop pivot screws
    Graupner Cam blades 9X5:—7.23 grams

    Total:

    9.93 grams

I think this weight is okay for a 150 gram E-36

    Hi again,

Thanks. So the Graupner 9-5 are the hot setup for E36? On what motor/gear? I’m using the GWS 8-6 on the low voltage motor 4 to 1.

    John,
There is a very limited range of choices for folding prop blades. Of the ones I tested, the Cam 9×5’s performed the best. See the thread “SR 190 Battery Test” for data using a 4.8 volt IPS motor with 4:1 gearing. There is data for both non-folding and folders. The Cam 9×5 performed about the same as a GWS slowfly (orange) 8×6 non-folder regarding propulsive power.

All the above data was taken using a SR 190 nicad battery. As you know, this battery is now obsolete. We are currently using KAN 400 NiMH batteries, which are slightly lighter, give a little more power, and are much cheaper.

    Dick
