Thought I’d post the B electric Pwr. Maverick project in a gas version! The gas version is powered by an O.S. 10 FSR-S. The total weight came in at 381 grams (13.4 ozs.) Initial test glides are very good. 😀 Will start flight triming when weather allows.

Finally took the time to fly the Pwr. Maverick! The 404 in. maverick is way under pwr’d with the O.S. 10. 🙁 It was an experiment!! I have a Cox 15 Medallion that I’m going to mount on it and see what happens! By the way wrapped the wing around a pole on one of the test flights. Minor wing repair. Will let everyone know how the 15 fairs.

Tom Hutchison actually designed a Maverick for the TD .09. It’s called a Manito and NFFS has plans. Model Aviation published the article back in the 70s. I have the plan (and the article somewhere) and have been thinking of building one with an OS 10FSR. I believe it’s around 350 squares and should go really well with the OS, or the TD .09 for that matter. Simon

Simon, thanks for the info. on the Manito. I’ve been tinkering around with the OS 10 and have improved it’s performance quite a bit. Went to an APC 6.5 x 2.9 prop, and bladder pressure with 35% nitro and it hauls the 400″ Maverick pretty good. Next I’m going to remove the venturi and see what additional performance I can get. I am on the same page with you on a 350″ plane for the TD 09 or the OS 10, I’m looking at a Geo. Galaxy in that range. Will be next winters project!

In the right ballpark to be sure. I fly a 320 at about 9.5/10 ounces and find that a good combination.

What other engine would be a good match for the Manito…..one that is easy to obtain.
