    Man you lot are quiet!
What are you all building these days, or are you all finished and heading for the flying fields rather than the keyboard?

I’m just putting the finishing touches to a TD 051 powered 1/2A Train (see Jan. ’69 Aeromodeller) which I guess counts as Classic. I’m also re-tanking an older TD 049 model for pressure feed, and have 2 other ex-Brit. Slow Open Power models I’ve been playing with for a few years now – looks like I’m having an All-Locked-Down season!
The 1/2A Train can be seen on the Small Flying Arts Forum.

I think the Night Train was one of the most elegant looking models designed. I was at the Sympo when it was awarded Model of the Year. The designer, whose name I can’t recall, said it got its name as it landed on a railroad track and was hit by, you guessed it, the “night train”. More were built and the rest is history. Who designed it? Post photos?

The designer was George French and his 1/2A Night Train was a scaled down version of his FAI model which met its demise on the railway tracks hence the name.

Elegant. The Brits and Canadians had some nice designs back in the day. I always liked the Nig-Nog. My dad, who was on the U.S Power team in 1955 used to enjoy going to Toronto to compete.

My Dad was on the British power team in ’55!
Don’t forget Al Vela when talking about good looking models…..

….and Roger Simpson flew a really nice FAI model back then, piped G15 and all.

I saw Al Vela, as you would have also Pelaero, at Roskilde Denmark in ’77 at the FF WC.
One of his F1Cs crashed onto the airport tarmac that we were flying on, and left a hole where the spinner hit, PLUS the perfect shape of his wing dihedral. Is Al still about? Not heard of him for a long time.

Good grief. Who took that? You? If so what else do you have ‘hidden’ away?

Part of the vast collection of B&W and colour slides taken at Denmark, you would be surprised at what I have 😉

As a guy who ‘smote the runway mightily’ on one occasion (wrecking everything, Rossi and Seelig included), I’ve got to say this thread has taken a turn for the worse. 🙁

Time to get back to good looking models again, guys!

Glad you liked them A.P. They were some of our pit crew at the PWC (Jetski) Aussie champs a couple of weeks ago, and was only doing as requested by J.B. LOL.

Okay everybody, back on topic please.

Noticed date on pic….is St. Patty’s Day not recognized there? Don’t see any green apparel. (Did ‘ya pinch ’em?!)

Ironically, FR’s new Snider Swamp shirts are the same style!? 😉 8)
