Can someone tell me how the Rubber champion at the NATS is determined? Is it total time of the five events, Moffett, Mulvihill, F1B, F1G and P-30, or are points awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.?
    Thanks,
    Ed

    Hello Ed and Dan,

This reminds me of an amusing anecdote that began at the 2005 SAM1066 Eurochamps held at Middle Wallop in England.

I won the Large Rubber class using my Bienenstien “Challenger” with a stunning 8 minute fly-off time.

At the prize-giving I was delighted that David Baker had the Winner’s Trophy engraved “World Champion”.

You have to understand that David Baker, the virtual No1 founder of the SAM UK movement had a quirky but unique style of fun and presentation.

Well, some months later I had occasion to visit my favourite hospital consultant who was always interested in my Model Flying exploits and he wanted me to bring him up to date, so I did.

Later in the consultation he brought in a group of medical students to share his diagnosis and delighted in introducing his patient, me, as

    “World Champion – Large Rubber”.

There were two young American girls in the group who started giiggling, then the whole room just fell about laughing. ❓ 😯 The tears rolled down for the rest of the consultation.

Read about the whole 2005 Middle Wallop Eurochamps in the PDF to be found at this link:

Who said visiting hospital could not be fun?

There loads more stuff on my website to tickle your fancy!!
