I have a Vivchar Suprima which needed to have the prop blades changed out. As the old blades had come loose the original pitch has been lost. I do have a prop pitch gauge in which to set the front end and an adjustable angle stop about 50% out on the blade. What is a good place to start the pitch angle? Right now the gauge is set to about 32-35 degrees. Also how do you optimize the prop pitch for best performance?

I should add that this model will be flown in Colorado at over 6000′ altitude.

    Thanks, Randy

    Randy,
I have a drawing of the Suprima in one of Igor’s brochures that shows the prop settings to be as follows:

    29 degrees @ radius 200 mm (7.874″)

That set up seems to track his reccomended settings for his other Wakefields using a fixed pitch prop.

I have been using the same front end and blades on my large Mulvihills and they seemed to work pretty well the last time I was up your way.

    Keep us posted.
    Cheers!

Thanks for the tip Pete, I’ll give that a try and let you know. We likely will be shutting down for the winter here in Colorado after Sunday but hopefully I’ll be able to get the Suprima into the air.
