I have a Shocker A/B 560 that has been taking up space in my shop for about 20 years. I am wondering if it would make a good conversion to electric. I have no desire to fly gas models anymore. The model weighs 14 oz (no motor or timer). I figure the all up weight with electric would be around 20 oz. ( no servo, fuse dt). Anyone think it’s worth fooling with? Any suggestions for motor, controler and batteries?

Ed, I think it would make a great electric “B” ship! I suggest the AXI 221212 motor, Jeti Plus 30 amp controller, Starlink timer, and 1200 mah 3s 30c LiPo battery. During testing of this pwr. set-up Jim Jennings jr. and I measured a 370 watt pwr output using an 8×6 APC prop. This should equate to approx. 1.5 watts/cubic inch of wing area. This is the same set-up I’m using on the “E” Maverick except I’m usinga 18 amp controller. I do plan on building a 585 Galaxie this winter and installing the same pwr. set-up that I’ve suggested for your 560 Shocker. Both should be great flyers!
