After viewing some Wakefield & other rubber model plans (for NOS) during the late 40’s and early 50’s I found the use of the “Continental Thread Brace” fixed to the wings, along with the use of split wings/fuselage attachments. I’ve seen this even on some gas models of that same period in building and flying.
I’ve had some input on this wire/thread bracing theory (Ramon Alban and Jean Wantzenriether) and would be interested to hear of any other thoughts on this along with anyone who is perhaps flying a model in current (USA) circles of contests- SAM or NFFS NOS today….even the model and the designer.
