InactiveDuring the 6th round of the recent MaxMen I took this shot of Jim Parker towing. It was an eventful flight, Jim let go of the line and almost crashed the model as he caught it again. Looking at the picture, Jim is seen as the ‘crock of gold’ at the bottom of the rainbow with the model above. More interesting is the cloud formation to the left which looks like a witch’s face if you turn your head to the left.
What can this all mean ?

InactiveWow, that’s an incredible picture. Would like to have a full res. copy of that 🙂
The witches’ face is remarkable. Imported form Scotland I reckon, amazing it passed security.
It’s gona be hard filling in the security form next time if they ask you if you were ever involved in any witch act.02/23/2009 at 1:15 pm #47029Anonymous
InactiveLooks to me like radio controlled DT is being frowned on!
Awesome picture Chris!

InactiveI dropped 11 seconds on the first flight so my flying partner, newly graduated son had the pick of the flying order. He made all the right decisions– he flew in the best part of the rounds and I had the rest.
I had 15 minutes left in the round, no other sportsman towing to help so I headed up wind– fairly brisk breeze. Found a lull, did a couple circles– feeling good, ready to launch when the line slipped out of my hand. Mad rush to catch the line. Caught up and stepped on the line– bad timing– instant tension with the model low going down wind– foot off the line. Now I hit the RDT.
Grabbed the model, ran back to the line. Up and still feels good so one circle and lauch– Max. Not pretty but fun.
BTW- Dallas placed 3rd– “not necessary for student to beat teacher” Verbitsky 1991

ParticipantYou did it without “lofting”? I didn’t know that was possible!
Congrats to Dallas….I do have RDT on my latest glider also, so will be able to join in the fun….

InactiveDave is right (“Send for the doctor !”). The witch has obviously seen ‘The Button’ and tried to down Jim and the model with light rays (a rainbow to you and me).
I have a few more of these shots but sadly not one with Jim and the model racing downwind.

ParticipantTHANKS Jim, for the Paul Harvey-like ‘rest of the story’.
I was watching it all from flightline, anxiously wondering what you
were doing & knowing round time was running short.A hero’s effort, especially with the Evil Witch of Lost Hills looking
askance at your feeble, yet human struggles!Congrats to Dallas for his fine flying and podium finish!
Ciao,
