Tip Launch Activities at the NATS

I was talking with Bruce Kimball and he mentioned the idea of a Tip Launch (Discus Launch) information session on Wednesday evening at the NATS.

The hope is that some of the guys that are working on trimming perhaps their first TLG at the NATS can get some help from some of the more experienced guys, and the more experienced guys can share ideas with each other and everyone else.

Bring out that TLG you just built but are afraid to throw and get some help to ensure the maiden voyage is a success. There will surely be a little bit of โ€œgrudgeโ€ demo flying among us, but the goal is to not burn each other out the night before the real contest!

Sooo, weather permitting we do plan on having a Grudge Launch contest for fun on Thursday after the official flying is done. This will be a good chance to seek revenge on the guys that found the thermals all day via some mass launch fun flying rounds. Winner buys everyone hot dogs at the Muncie Model and Hobby cookout afterwards.

So come on out and find the group of twirling guys on the field Wednesday and Thursday, entrance is free!

TLG is called Towline Glider in the free flight world.

You will have to stay with DLG for these or come up with something else like TTG for tip thrown gliders.

Don’t screw up my TLG! towline gliders

Should it not be TG then for Towline Glider? You have F1A, F1H, how many abbreviations do you need?! ๐Ÿ˜€

I don’t care what we call it, just so people fly it.

From the 36″ wingspan on these monsters, I propose “BFG”
