Of course a motor from era 6 can be put in an airframe that was flown in era 5! Right? All one need do is conform to the engine run and fuel reg’s for era 6, right?

In possession of a[not so hot] era 6 motor but loving an erafiveplane.

    Thanks!

    Dennis,
I think that you’re right – the engine defines what era applies in terms of engine run/fuel (provided both are pre-79 – which era 5 and 6 are, or course).

But tell us what airframe and engine has captured your interest.

The motor is left over from an r/c combat plane, and I can’t seem to get rid of it. It does run well but I have no idea what it will tach at. Mecoa made this, a repoduction of the RJL/Cox Conquest .15 engine. It won’t take much to convert it. I didn”t get the ABC version so it’s pretty much plain Jane.

I always liked the Cherny Orbiteer and the Galbreath Hi-Fai but Roger Simpson’s Condorian has a nice look to it!

This would probalby done more for fun than anything as I doubt there will be any events for it locally.

Rather than start up a new thread, I thought I’d resuscitate this one.

I have now finished 2 Vintage FAI Power models, and am eager to get to the field and do some trimming. These are the first FAI models I’ve built since 1992 – other than a couple of Coupes.

First up is Night Train with a Jay Krell tuned G15 up front. The tank’s a bit of an eyesore, but it doesn’t leak, so I’ve left it for now.

Pipe, but no Seelig – the timer is one of my Dad’s – separate movements for engine and DT – very nicely done. Picture taken just before I tied off the flood off line.

    Neat photos!
I’ve always thought the Night Train was one of the most elegant power models around. Thanks!

Another vote for the Night Train…beautiful lines. I might just have to build one of those…

    Hello John

Is that the engine that I sold to you?

    Model and engine look good.

    Hi Dave,
    No it isn’t.
The engine in Night Train is on loan from one of my ex-club-mates in the UK – it’s a very fast G15.
I’ve run the one I got from you and it’s good, too, but the Krell engine is a bit quicker. I need to see how I get on with the piped engine in Trad Lad. If I get the hang of it, I’ll swap them out and run the one I bought from you in Night Train – with a pipe.

    John
