InactiveI have a nice all silver Webra 1.5CC diesel. Really nice feel to it anybody run one of these?? Also a good Paw 80 Mk2 same question. Not sure of size in CC on the Paw. Maybe 80CC or .049 size? Has a tube type muffler that not to pleased with but don,t want to mess engine up. Any input on these? Thanks in advance,Dan

InactiveHi Dan
The Webra Record 1.5 is a sod of an engine, they are a swine to start while the PAW 80 (it is an 049 size) is an ideal sport engine. Ebay the Webra and keep the PAW.

InactiveI have been modeler off and on for a long time and never heard of a bad Webra. Hard to belive an engine this nice and smooth would be hard to run. Weather has been colder than normal in Tucson, AZ.so no engine running. I guess I’ll find out when it warms up. This Webra feels better than my Elfin 1.5cc and that engine runs great.

Hmm – I have one in a scaled-down Kraft “Upstart’, built for Nostalgia. Hasn’t flown for years, mainly because I found the airplane to be a bit unpredictable and thus unreliable …. but never had the slightest problem with starting/running the Webra. Choke, prime .. .1st or 2nd flick and away we go; if only the airplane was as forgiving!
Kraft used same wing and stab on a pylon design; I keep thinking about bulding that fuselage sometime but never seem to get around to it. ๐

Ployd, you bad bad boy. So THAT’S why you sold me your Webra Rekord red head, a couple of years ago. Tutt tutt.
If fact that one and the other one I have, and the other two I had are and were real little screamers, and start well.
Mix fresh fuel—40% ether, 30% castor, 30% kero plus 2% DII or equivilant is the factory mix, and a 7×4 prop. and away you go.
Run well on an 8×4 or 9×4 also and a standard diesel mix of equal parts of ether, castor and kero.
On small props. they are a very snappy little motor though, so use a finger stall and flick hard.01/21/2007 at 11:28 pm #43823JIM MOSELEY

Huh, not YOU again. Guess with fingers like yours, it just don’t matter.
Mine are such delicate little things, that do all sorts of wonderfull things, and they MUST be looked after. ๐01/23/2007 at 11:12 am #43825Anonymous
InactiveHi Gossie
I read Dan’s original post and the description suggested the later beam model that came out in the 60’s (not the red head radial or radial/beam versions, they’re okay) so I stand by my statement. Martin W has one and Alan Lusher has one and both have been bad news even with fresh fuel. Give me an Elfin 149 any day.
Jim, real men flick with bare fingers; for wimps they invented “chicken sticks”

Agree absolutely, Peter .. .even though my right forefinger is now 3/16″- 1/4″ shorter than its opposite number .. it still starts anything and everything well enough!
Undeterred in Ajax ….
