THE NFFS PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE: April 2007

Hall of Fame
The NFFS Hall of Fame committee has made its selections for 2007. The following fine fliers will be inducted into the NFFS Hall of Fame at the annual NFFS awards banquet at the Nats:
George Batiuk Jr.
Gil Morris
Will Nakashima
Jim O'Reilly
Lin Reichel
Eugene Verbitsky
The awards banquet will be held on Wednesday night, Aug. 1, 2007 at the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie IN. You can purchase tickets in advance with your Nats registration. Or you can buy them at the NFFS table at the Nats, but only through Tuesday noon. Price is the same as last year, $ 25 per person.
As we will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of NFFS all during Outdoor Nats week, we are planning to award door prizes at the banquet, and have birthday cake for dessert. Other commemorative items will be on the banquet agenda and will be announced later as planning is completed. Anniversary activities on the field will be announced later. Anniversary decals and other items of this type are in development, and will be available at the Nats.

Swap Meet
NFFS and Thermal Thumbers of Metro Atlanta (TTOMA) will again sponsor a swap meet this year at Muncie. It will be held Monday evening, July 30, from 5:00 p.m. until dark, under the big tent at AMA Field Headquarters. Proceeds will go to the NFFS Scholarship Fund.
To sign up for a table, contact Don Brown, 477 Safari Circle, Stone Mountain GA 30083. His e-mail is <donkay@mindspring.com> Your Society at work: Did you know that NFFS has provided worthy young people with college scholarships totaling $51,500 since 1998. Your help at the cookout/raffle is a part of this success. Be thinking about what you would like to donate for the raffle. And if you know worthy young modelers who are approaching high-school graduation and might be qualified, (see the NFFS Web site for details), have them go to our Web site, print a scholarship application and submit it. Our scholarship committee will review all applications to determine those recommended for scholarships.

Belonging to NFFS is to support free flight, not just to get a Digest 10 times a year. My challenge to you is to sign up at least one new member this year. Did you ever think of giving someone a NFFS membership as a gift for a birthday or for the holidays, or just as an expression of friendship?
Jr. FAI Team Contest
The Muncie Nats will be preceded on Sun., July 29 with the Jr FAI Team Selection Contest. Juniors must fly in this contest and in the Nats to qualify for the Jr. Team. Support this effort by volunteering as a timer. To do so, contact George Batiuk Jr., 2221 King St. #2, San Luis Obispo CA 93401. 805-546-9231. <slogb@charter.net>

Remember, you are free flight.
