During my first year as
your president, each President¹s Column has closed with the reminder
that each member should try to enlist at least one new member during the year.
The lack of response has been disheartening. If we are truly interested in
preserving and promoting our segment of model aviation and its heritage, we
all need to pitch in. Under the guidance of Don DeLoach, our publicity chairman,
we are initiating a membership campaign.
On page 4, you¹ll find the announcement of an incentive to attract both
new members and those who have been off the society¹s rolls for more
than one year. New and qualifying returning members will receive a $10 gift
certificate for ordering NFFS plans. If a plan you want costs more than $10,
merely add the extra amount to receive your plans order. If you order a plan
that is less than $10, we won¹t be able to provide a refund, so increase
your order. Don¹s article on the facing page contains additional information
plus a new membership application form. You must use this form in submitting
a new membership, or if renewing a lapsed membership. Copy a few membership
applications and take them along to each contest you attend this year. Approach
at least one potential prospect at each contest, and you will be surprised
at the new members you will sign up. Let¹s get serious about signing
up new members. Losing members because of death cannot be avoided, but losing
members because of an I-don¹t-care attitude is unacceptable.
Indoor National Cup
We have just announced the kickoff of the Indoor National Cup program (see
p. 6). Join in the race to be one of the winners of the Indoor National Cups.
The program will encompass four cups: two for Open members, and two for Juniors.
You can find details
for this exciting competition on the NFFS Web site, or you can contact
Jim Buxton, our Indoor Committee chairman, for additional information. Contact
Jim Buxton, 4956 Wallington Drive, Hilliard OH 43026. Don¹t forget, sign
up at least one new member for NFFS this year!
See you on the flight
line!
