Hatschek International Challenge Results from May 31 and June 1

Dear Free Flight Friends,

Here are the results of the Hatschek International Challenge May 31 and
June 1, 2014 at Barron Field (AMA sanction number 1080) for FAI, AMA, and
Nostaglia free-flight events, with Dave Acton CD. Concurrently there was a
fine meet of FAC flying run by Eddie Pelatowski. The weather was gorgeous
Sunday (sunny, very calm, and mild temperature), but Saturday it was too
windy for some of the fliers (e.g. Don Rousseau’s first round F1G flight
whisked off in a windy thermal and landed in a distant tree causing it to
take a while to extract). All other flights stayed comfortably on the
field, leading to keen competition in F1H and F1Q and in Sunday’s events.
Here we show the placing, the round scores and the totals for each event.
Leading zeros are used to maintain simple formatting. Likewise names
(which are variable in length) are placed at the end of each line.
Remember the next big meet at the field is June 21,22.

June SCAT Black Cup Fun Contest Report. June 14, 2014

The second SCAT fun fly FAI combo is done. A very nice day in So Cal—84 deg F at noon. We had the usual slight breeze at the 7:00a start time.

We set up the self-serve entry table. I had found a box of the SCAT 40 year Anniversary T-shirts and gave them to those that were flying. We have a few left and will have at the next Black Cup at Perris, July 19. 2014.

We had the usual slight breeze at the 7:00a start time and took advantage getting 4 quick maxes flying M&K short LDA trying out the “Jama” launch style. Then the Perris soft air came in and I missed a launch and dropped 40 seconds—I did not use the “Jama” and did not have the same speed as earlier. Shlomi was flying his M&K long LDA and continued to Max. In F1B Roger and Jack were putting in maxes. Jack found soft air in the 4th rnd and dropped 30 sec. Bernie had a new F1Q but I thought I saw one of his older models in the air—he too dropped the 4th. Bill Booth came a bit later and made some maxes but ran out of time. Same with Lee who was waiting for the Perris 11:00a breeze to start—it never did and took a double attempt / tow-in in some light to zero shifting breeze. Ed Carroll and Ken Happersett came out. Ken had a mechanical problem and did not fly. Ed put up maxes until his timer decided not to run after his 5th max.

Shlomi took a break to get some liquid after a longer tow after his 6th max. He and Lee got into a discussion while Roger put in his 7th max for the win. We use the first person to finish their flights as a tie breaker.

Several of us had lunch together at the Sunset restaurant afterward.

Looking to Fly my F1C

Hi Roger,

I am planning to go and fly my F1C in Romania and the countries of former Yugoslavia in this coming
Summer
Does someone know their clubs or people to fly with me?

Thank you and Regards,
Eizan Yoshino frm. japan

Editors comment : I would look at the World Cup schedule. Certainly 2 events in Romania next to the Euro Champs.

North Island FF Champs

The North Island Free Flight Champs is a low key fun event. Its well attended by New Zealanders and we hold it in March to get the best weather opportunity.
If any overseas Flyers happen to be Touring New Zeland and would like to turn up and watch or fly they would be most welcome. ( I’ve had people say they were in New Zealand and would have come if they had known it was on)
We don’t usually have FAI events with it as it gives the FAI flyers a chance to fly non FAI events however if several people were coming and expressed interest I could hold a low key FAI F1B event in the couple of days before the event
