Sergey Speaks
From Sergey Makarov

Hi Roger.

I did not write any notes to the SCAT, may be you help me how to do this. Please publish this one with attachment:

I can confirm Leslie Farkas note about timing in Kiwi cup flyoff. I have MTK timer from Jama’s model, which he used in the model in the flyoff. His result is 8 min (see altimeter graph from his timer). It was some talking about him in Lost Hills. My opinion, in such situation we have to look for the facts. Yes, it is not official to look for the altimeter data, but it will solve the problems between sportsmen, make our sport more clear.
The other problems with timers – need to mix it before flyoff.
That is a reality, sometimes we have timekeeper mistakes. And the problem is, if such mistakes become more – sport stops. We can not enough possibilities to increase the levels of timing. But we can check each other sometimes, I mean start stop watch at the start position, look for the model till landing, stop the watch – this result is a fact, altimeter data after the flight is a fact. So please – no facts – no talking about!

We are not so many persons in our sport, we knows each others many years – let’s try to keep friendship. I like to fly together with a friends!

Best wishes, Sergey

Editor’s Comments

To post something on SEN you just have to reply to the SEN email and it will be posted.

We don’t publish attachments but Sergey did send one and the graph showed an 8 minute flight

We should mix the timekeepers more than we do and I will make an effort to do so in future Kiwi Cups. I did notice when running the Kiwi Cup that the Russian “team” who were not in the flyoff for a particular class were one of the first groups of people to step forward and offer their services to time, the offer was appreciated and did not go un-noticed.

Roger
I’d like to second Craig.s remarks thanking you for letting us all know what was happening as it happened (almost)
I’d also like to thank Brian and Malcolm for their excellent photo collections.
I realised I could identify some of the people in Brian’s photos by comparing the numbers on wings with the FAI numbers in your results.
While doing this I noticed the SEN seq. number glitch.
