U.S. National Championship
From: Andrew Barron
Many free flight flyers are travelling this weekend to attend the National Aeromodeling Championship in Muncie, Indiana, Monday August 5 through Friday August 9. As the contest director I extend a warm welcome. It is the
premiere free flight competition for many of the over 60 free flight events of the National Free Flight Society and the Academy of Model Aeronautics, and it includes keen competition in FAI, FAC, and SAM events. The field is
reported to be in good condition with less surrounding crops because of rains during the planting season. For those who are not able to make it this year we know you will join in wishing safe travels and flying for all who are coming.

Enjoy the flights!

Andrew Barron

Editor’s Note for our International readers.  The Nats are held every year at the AMA HQ in Muncie, Indiana.  A nice site, owned by the AMA  with a great museum.  The Outdoor Free Flight part is a week long, most times in July , this year in August for scheduling reasons.  Each year there is a different contest director, Andrew Barron as you see above is this year’s CD.  There will be an Event Director for the FAI events, the same for the other major Free Flight categories.  One nice item for visitor who flys in you can rent a golf cart to chase your models, over nice, well trimmed green grass.  Well worth a visit, not far to the US Airforce Museum at Wright-Patterson in Dayton, OH and for the gearhead the Indy 500 race museum In Indianapolis.

Submissions to SEN

Firstly this is a reminder that everyone is always invited to submit article, contest announcements and results, for sale and wanted, any other stuff about FAI Free Flight.  SEN is made up of the information that you share with your FAI Free Flight friends.

As part of our effort to avoid the spam police and friends we like to keep the emails smaller and simple. So they should be just text, in most cases without and fancy formatting or fonts.

If you have a contest announcement  that has formatting and fonts it is best to send it to us in a word processor format such as Microsoft Word.  Do not send it a PDF.  We cannot include the PDF as is  as and have to extract the text, sometimes a messy process for us and your beautiful contest announcement.  Do not use multi column formatting as this does not work well with all the different ways people read SEN

Contest results should be submitted on Excel of similar spread sheet format.  This gives us the most flexibility in sending the information in the most efficient format
