Patterson Results 2021

From:Brian Vannest
Usual weather as we had a fog advisory and couldn’t start Saturday until 10:00am. Flyoff on Saturday for F1B. Just before sunset Walt and Sevak went for a 10 min max with low wind and perfect for the timekeeping. Great weather for the rest of the day with variable winds 0-5 mph.  Sunday morning delay until 11:30 but were able to get 5- 45 min rounds in.

 Little Clarification

From:Ian Kaynes

Roger

Thank you for publishing the links to the Sporting Code and printing the model identification rule. Please note that there is a correction in the first sentence – which should be included in the 2022 edition in January:

C.11.1 Class F – Model Aircraft
a) Model aircraft, except for Indoor Free Flight and Scale, shall carry:
i) The national identification mark followed
BY the FAI Unique ID number.

Two years ago when the paragraph was revised the word BY was left out. This left the instruction confused and subject to misunderstanding by some of the people without English as their first language.

There are deals

Recent travelers, most places have reported increases in cost, particularly rental cars.  This is partial because some rental car companies sold off some of their fleet and are now short of cars .  But there are deals around, for example US F1B man Walt Ghio on his trip to fly in Switzerland reported that by hunting around and looking at a number of companies he found a special at Avis for his location. Probably depends on the location but it is worth looking.

The Clubs are a good source

For Peter Becker’s question in the last SEN …..The Willamette Modelers Club publishes a Directory of FF modelers who compete in the NW. Mostly it contains the contact info for active free flighters in the NW. It is updated every 2 years, and currently contains about 400 names and more. It is not broken out by class of model flown or the like, but it is cheap. . $2 postpaid gets you a copy. Contact for more info.

The WMC is a leading FF club  in the Pacific NW and their name is often in the contest calendars.  Our readers are also a good source !
