Anti-F1B Change Petition
There is a Sporting code change before the upcoming CIAM meeting to reduce the F1Bmotor weight from 30 grams to 25m. This has some support in officialdom but the grass roots F1B flyers in many countries are not convinced. This proposal is from the FFTSC and proposals from them are general approved, it is believed by some that NAC delegates are not sure how to vote follow the FFTSC because they are the expert so must know best. There are surprisingly large number of flyers from many countries who are not aware of how these decisions are made at either the FFTSC or NAC level because “no one asked them”. Note that transcripts of some of the CIAM technical meetings are available online at the FAI web site so you can listen to them. People are on the FFTSC because the experts and generally in touch with what is going on so regular flyers should know at least of them. The process in each country differs so you should contact your NAC to find out how it is done. Your NAC is responsible for working with the civil authorities that regulate the use of air space, public safety and radio frequency allocation. Sometimes there are concerns in these areas that the typical modeler may not be aware of.
A group of modelers have started a grass root petition using change.org , a public domain petition service.
This petition is called.

One of the issues is the number of F1B flyers that get in the fly off in major events and the organizer’s ability to handle such a large number in a fly off. Maybe we should be looking at how we do our timing. After all, when we send a team to a World champs or go to a World Cup we expect it to be challenging but also we expect our top sportsmen to “Max Out” and complain when they don’t. . It is challenging but we try very hard, and you the organizer does not like it when we succeed. So why bother. And we wonder why the participation numbers are dropping off? Ah we know best what is right for the people we don’t need to listen to them .
