RIP Bernie Crowe
From: Clint Brooks
Hi Roger
I have news that Bernie Crowe passed away March 7th after a struggle with diminishing health. I have no other news about it at this time.
Please share this with the FAI community Bernie was part of for so long. He had curtailed his major contest participation after suffering a heart attack at a Lost Hills contest. This was probably ten years ago. He was very active in SoCal with the SCAMPS club and had just stepped down from club president due to his health issues. The free flight community owes him a lot from his competitive expertise, plus the pioneering work he did in getting the F1Q class going. In the end he dropped out of Q, but did give us the Noah’s Quark design which gave the free flight community something better than an E36 design to use in Q. I believe this is one of the designs that helped segue larger electric models for Q competition. We all owe him a head nod for his energy and ambition to make free flight better. He was a class act, and he will be missed by all of us.
Regards
Clint Brooks

The renowned Danish freeflighter Joergen Korsgaard passed away on March 2nd after a long illness. Joergen has had a long career in Danish and International free flight. Just 18 year old he participated in his first World Championship in 1963 flying F1A. He followed that up with F1A in 1965, F1B in 1977, 1995, 1997, F1D in 1984, 1986 and F1B European Championships in 1988,1990 and 2002.
Joergen had activities in many fields. He organized clubs and acted as mentor for a long range of young people, he was active as editor in our Danish magazines and even published his own Indoor News over several years. His editorial work included drawings of models and details of models at the highest level. Many of his drawings have been in International publications such as Vol Libre, Thermiksense, Free Flight Quarterly, Free Flight News, Free Flight Digest and the NFFS Sympo.
Everybody who met Joergen will have experienced his totally empathic personality. Always open for discussion, very talkative and extremely willing to help. He was a good friend and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Rest in peace, Joergen!
