2025 Am Cup

From : Jim Parker

The 2025 Am Cup contest season started as usual before the 2024 Awards ceremony this past Feb at Lost Hills Recreation Center. Thanks to the CDs and clubs that run the contests. The 2025 contest schedule is the same as 2024 with the addition of the Jan 2025 King Orange Internation. At this time, there is one requested rule change to be discussed and to be voted on by SCAT but otherwise no changes to the 2025 rules.

The AmCup fee remains the same at $30 per contest.  This is due by April 1, 2025. Please, send checks made out to Terry Kerger to Terry Kerger, 709 Domingo Dr, CA 91775.  It would be greatly appreciated this year for payments to be made in a timely manner. Terry will accept cash payments at the SCAT Annual (April 15, today as I write) and the SAN VAL (March). I’m still tracking down a few 2024 payments.  Here is where I’ve had difficulty: someone at FabFeb handed me cash, I put it my model box but for the life of me I can’t remember who or for what. Will this person contact me please (email below). Terry will do a better job. Thanks.

So, at the end of tomorrow (April, March ? 16), 5 of the 33 will be complete. The most noticeable score is Jama’s 106 points in F1A. That’s often enough to win but his 106 points includes a 22-point score. So, a 25 point would improve his score to 109 points, definitely in the win zone.

The other scores to point out are the junior flyers, Sevak’s Squadron, aka National Youth Aviation Academy flyers are doing well, 10 top 5 places and the Finn boys with a top 5 placing each.

This is the start of the 2026 Junior Team Selection. From the Junior Team Section program:

Junior entrants ranking will be based on the total points from the five best America Cup contest results between January 1, 2025 and February 28, 2026. The contest schedule can be found on the NFFS webpage <https://www.freeflight.org/free-flight-calendar/>

The Junior Team Selection Program can be found at: <2026JuniorTeamProgram.pdf>. If interested, please contact myself, Sevac Malkhasyan or Charlie Jones, the Junior Team Selection committee.
