Hold the Date- Rescheduled Spence Memorial

From:Jim Parker

Hold the date, June 15 & 16 with the 17th for reserve for the re-scheduled Henry Spence Memorial FF Contest and FAC Melee 2024.  Mike Fedor is in process getting the Contest Sanction date updated. Should not be an issue with no other nearby FF contests scheduled.

The contest will be at the Hamilton, Texas Municipal Airport. The land by the runways is drying out and no more deluges are in the forecast. Steve Spence is the CD for the Spence and Mike Kelly is the FAC CD.  The airport will be available for test flying on Friday June 14.

May contest results in Wawayanda

From: Andrew Barron

Dear Free Flight Friends,
On May 18-19, 2024 we had 13 participants in the Dave Lacey / Tom Kerr Memorial (Saturday) and the Bob Hatschek International Challenge (Sunday) for AMA and FAI events, hosted by the Brooklyn SkyScrapers. Concurrently, there were about 20 participants in a Flying Aces meet.  The weather was great both days, with gentle winds from the northeast, heading down the length of the field.  Special note is made of the performances by Peter Barron (maxing out and winning F1A both days), by Ron Felix in F1B, Yuda Avla F1Q, Don Rousseau and Jerry Gross in F1G, Drake Hooke and Maria Noldy in AMA electric events, and Ian Hurley in P-30.  An ultra-strong thermal in round 5 Sunday caused Yuda’s F1Q to ascend after DT and land in a tree a couple of kilometers downwind.  Fortunately, it was safely retrieved with the help of a tree climber the next morning.  Here is a record of the flight times for all the FAI and AMA events for both contests. Thermals, Andrew Barron (CD).  P.S.  Watch for a posting of the schedule for the next meet June 22-23.
