Dates
Location
The famous salt mine of SLANIC PRAHOVA -ROMANIA.
Accommodation
Competitors and officials were accommodated in Slanic Hotel, which has been improved since the last European Championship and is now more comfortable for a reasonable price. Breakfasts and dinners were served at hotel. Lunches were prepared at hotel and served in the salt mine, with hot food, which has been well appreciated.
Opening ceremony
Opening ceremony was very simple and short, in the salt mine.
Participation
21 competitors from 5 countries. This is a very low participation compared to all the countries flying indoor classes in Europe.
Indoor flyers should understand that if they don’t participate more in competitions it is also more and more discouraging for organisers and there will be less and less competitions in the future.
Contest organisation
Contest Organisation was very good. Processing equipment was very adequate
Timekeeping
Timekeeping was organised in a way that each team had a pair of timekeepers.
Protests
The Jury had no problem as there was no protest. But after discussion, some questions stayed with no answer because the Sporting Code is not accurate enough and makes confusions with the organiser’s guide particularly about flying in rounds and steering of models. We also noted that the Sporting Code allows the helper to wind the rubber, which seems rather strange for a class where winding of the rubber is an essential action for the duration of the flight… This must be referred to the Free Flight Sub Committee for further action.
Closing Ceremony and Banquet
Banquet and closing ceremony took place in the Slanic Hotel. There were trophies, diplomas and medals provided by the organiser for all winners and winning teams.
Conclusion
The Chief Engineer of the salt mine and his workers must be thanked for their efforts to maintain this site in good condition.
The Federatia Romana de Modelism must be commended for a good organisation and a full success of these Championships.
