Dates

Location

Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia

Information

Two bulletins were sent out to NACs before the event in time and additional information were issued on the spot at arrival and contained the necessary information. One meeting was organized for the team managersr, the main officials and the jury.

We also have got some colour brochures with pictures concerning the countryside.

Participation

The final entry was a total of 34 senior competitors from 11 countries (all full teams) and 21 juniors from 8 countries (6 full teams).

Accommodation and food

Accommodation was organised in different versions. The hotel for the officials was good. We haven’t heard about problems. The food in the hotel was excellent and plentiful, the lunch on the site was good as well. Before departing we have got a cold meal package for the travel.

Flying site

The flying area was selected daily based on the meteorological information and was announced at the main square of the town. There was acceptable access to the slopes by car.

The slopes are good for the F1E class, but in some cases tall trees and houses are situated within the landing area.

The nicely gliding models with a beautiful landscape (mountains and a lake) in the background were very impressive.

Competition

During the championships the wind speed (1-3 m at forenoon, 3-5 in the afternoon) and direction was changing, therefore the slope on the contest day was rather tricky. This way there were not too many competitors (10 seniors and 4 juniors) in the fly off and two rounds were enough to have the winner.

Opening and Closing Ceremony

The opening ceremony was organized at the main square in Liptovski Mikulas in the presence of the local authorities and a number of inhabitants. The major of the town greeted the participants and organizers and his opening speech was translated from Slovak to English and French as well by himself. A reception was given by the major for the team managers, the jury and chief organizers.

The closing ceremony was in the evening in the garden of the main hotel in the camera lights of the local media. The banquet was also in this hotel.

Protests

We had no protest to handle.

Conclusions

The 2005 World Championships in class F1E was a successful event both for the seniors and juniors as well. Thanks and congratulations to the hard working local organizing staff and the timekeepers, local ones and from abroad. The very powerful and energetic contest director could keep the contest well in hands.

The organisers used well the experience they collected through the previous events, several world cup contests and a world and continental championship. Thanks to them for the work and efforts made for the F1E modelling community.
