Location

Information

Several information bulletins were sent by the Polish Aero Club, each one with the necessary information at the right time. The high quality of the pre-contest information must be mentioned.

Participation

14 juniors from 6 countries
30 seniors from 10 countries
so 44 competitors all together.

Accommodation

Accommodation was on a high standard with hot meals on the field on the competition day, which was well appreciated both by the competitors and the officials.

Flying site

The site used for the competition was the slope N 2, south of TYLICZ village. The slope was not the best one of the site, but according to the weather conditions, it was the only one acceptable.

Weather

The wind was quite moderate but it has been raining every day except on the competition day. The cloud base was rather low but there was no visibility problem for timing the models.

Competition

The maximum flight duration was 4 minutes in the 1st round and 5 minutes for the 4 subsequent rounds. The third round was the more difficult one with only .8 maxes: (4 juniors and 4 seniors) Only one competitor made the 5 maximum flights, so we had no additional fly-off flights.

Opening and Closing Ceremony

Opening ceremony was planned outdoor on MUSZYNA market place. Unfortunately, because of the rain, it had to be organised at the last moment in the small local theatre. It was followed by a barbecue in a little village, which was a nice moment, even with rain.

The excursion programme had to be modified because of the bad weather. Due to engine trouble, the bus came back late and the closing ceremony had to be delayed. It took place in the hotel meeting room. FAI medals and diplomas plus local trophies, medals and diplomas were awarded to the winners.

It must be noted that a perpetual trophy was also transmitted to the individual winner. This trophy should be registered. This ceremony was followed by a nice banquet in a very warm atmosphere. The FAI jury members were granted as “mountaineers”, in the best traditions of the mountainous countries.

Protests

There was no official protest.

Conclusions

This Championship was a very successful event, even with the bad weather conditions.

It must be noted that the F1E class does not need large flying fields and even not so high slopes. This class should be more known by aeromodellers and will probably make more participants in the future.

The Aero-club of POLAND must be commended for a very successful Championship.
