Introduction

The fourth FAI World Championships for Slope soaring gliders F1E and the third junior W/CH in the same class were organised by the Aerokiub of the Slovakia and Slovak model federation. The competition took place in Brezno.

Participation

Nine countries, and total of 28 seniors and 21 juniors attended at this championships.

Accommodation

Competitors, supporters and competition staff were accommodated in hotels Dumbier and Sport approx. 10 km away from flying site. Meals, which were of good standard were taken in the hotel restaurants, lunch was served on the field.

Flying site

The place of the championships was located in the slopes of the Low Tatras. The all flying sites was situated at the slopes very near of the town.

Weather

The wind 1-3 m/s variable.

Competition

Organisation was very good, and this combined with the sincerity welcome and generous hospitality of the organisers, created an excellent atmosphere throughout the period of championships. The flying standard was quite high.

timekeeping

Without principal problems.

Opening and Closing Ceremony

The opening ceremony was in the nice town of Brezno on the main square. F.A.I. medals and diplomas and nice cups were presented at the closing banquet which was located in the old historical hall in the Brezno.

protests

There were no official protests at this championships.

Conclusion

4th F.A.I. World Aeromodelling championships for free flight slope soaring gliders class F1E was very well organised. Our thanks go to Slovak aeroclub for tremendous job they put into preparing and running this event.
