_It’s New, It’s Here and it’s Got an Eye-Catching Cover_

..It’s the new 2015 BMFA Free Flight Forum Report and it’s also full of lots of interesting papers on numerous aspects of free-flight, as the contents list shows:

Recent F1D Developments by Tony Hebb; Electronic Timers for F1B by Mike Woodhouse; Personal Observations on Classic Power Models by John Thompson; The F1Q Mystery by Trevor Grey; Experiences with Electronic Timers by Roy Vaughn; Free Flight, Flying Sites & the BMFA by Dave Phipps; The Cursed S – Why Won’t It Keep Going Up? by Alan Jack; Rubber Powered Kit Scale Competition by Andy Hewitt; New Ideas for the F1 Rules by Mike Woodhouse; Revisiting Rubber Scale 55 Years Onby Ivan Taylor . As well as all this Phil Ball’s selection of notable models from 2014 includes Andy Hewitt’s Fokker D-VII Nats Rubber Kit Scale winner, Ed Bennett’s Thin Man Classic Rubber model, Frank Rushby’s 1/2A Mini Creep, Chris Redrup’s BMFA Rubber model; Andy Crisp’s Blue Note F1A for BMFA Glider contests and Trevor Grey’s Kaon E-36.

For thirty-one years these Reports have provided information on new developments in a wide range of free-flight activities. This year is no exception. //

The UK price is £12.00 including postage; to Europe it’s £15 and everywhere else £17. Cheques should be payable to ‘BMFA F/F Team Support Fund’ in pounds sterling, drawn on a bank with a UK branch; you may also order by credit card, which is a lot easier (and cheaper).

Frank Schlachta – from USA

From: Bob Gutai

Frank Schlachta was a happy sort of guy that always kept me smiling. A great competitor as well. We spent quite a few contest days flying against each other.

We have a super deal for an indoor Nats hotel. The Antlers Hilton in downtown Colorado Springs which is just 6 blocks from the City Auditorium is offering us a special rate for their “standard” rooms for only $119 per night.
The AARP and AAA rates are $161/night.

This is a top rated hotel in the heart of a great city. The lobby bar is a great meeting place and Judge Baldwin’s brew pub offers a selection of Colorado’s top craft beers on tap plus great pub food.
This offer includes free self parking in the hotel’s underground garage (a $20 per day savings), free Wi-Fi, and a $11 discount for the breakfast buffet.

For additional information of the Antlers check out the hotel’s web site at www.antlerscoloradosprings.hilton.com.

This is a limited time offer as June is a top tourist time in Colorado so this offer expires May 7.
You can book your reservations by calling the hotel’s 800 number or call the hotel directly.
be sure to ask for the AMA Group when making your reservations.

THEN and NOW.

Then.

When I joined the Lismore Eagles, in the late 1930’s I was under the wing
of Mr Headley Harder.

He told me that model flying was a unique sport.

The only sport in the world where……….

You used your brains to design your model.

You used your skill to build your model .

You used your physical condition to find and your model and bring it back.

NOW.

We use our brains to read and understand price lists in many languages.

We use our skills to pick the best model within our price range.

Physical condition has taken a back seat.

R/D and stuff tells you where your model has landed and the best way to get
there.

Recovery can be by any mechanical machine allowed on that field.

Progress has kept up with old age.

Adrian Bryant.
