A Thought about D/T Flyoffs.
From: John Barker
Has anyone considered timing the model from the time when the D/T should be started until the time the model lands and then subtracting this from the flight time. This gets over the problem of the ‘late starting’ D/T and removes any desire to slow the D/T rate of descent. (Indeed it perhaps requires a clause to prevent KamiKazi arrivals).

Hit the silk

Roger,
I would be grateful if you would place this advertisement in SEN news. Arthur and I whilst drinking in the Buckhamshire Arms feel we spotted an opportunity for your Hi Tech FAI geezers, thanks Nick
Have you difficulty keeping your model up?
Never mind use a d/t parachute made from best quality silk to slow your descent. Success guaranteed – each chute only used once by aircrew during the Second World War.

A comment for one minute DT timing in flyoff
From: Ismet Yurtseven
In 2015, because of the high wind speed, I have to accept one minute DT timing in the fly-off in two competitions (Sofia Cup and Istanbul Cup).
Of course there is logic behind the one minute DT timing, but, it is not a part of free flight. In my opinion, trying to fly in abnormal weather conditions and then trying to decide the winner is not fair for all the competitors who are participating in world cup competitions. Trying to fly the models in abnormal weather conditions can be another sporting discipline which is not free flight.
My believing is that, if the weather conditions do not allow for a normal fly-off then, then the competition should be finished and all the competitors in the fly-off should be declared as winner, the points should be shared.

Roger,
Could you please post the attached two flyers for the two World and
America’s Cup contests coming up in July in Ontario?
We have secured a lovely, large sod farm located about 45 minutes north of
Toronto surrounded by farmland. We hope some of you can join us at this
wonderful field and celebrate with the traditional Barbecue at Ladi Horak’s
cottage on Saturday evening.
See you in Tottenham!
