Macedonia and Niksic World Cup Events at Prilep Airfield on Sep-30 and Oct-1 of 2017
From: Ismet Yurtseven
A wonderful weekend: Macedonia and Niksic World Cup Events at Prilep Airfield on Sep-30 and Oct-1 of 2017
First, thanks to the organization team (organizer, contest director, timekeepers and all other contributing people). Congratulations to the winners.
For me, it was a good opportunity to meet with the friends from many countries: Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Israel, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Russia and Ukraine.
On Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning, the weather conditions were excellent. Saturday was cloudy. The temperature was from 7 C to 17 C. Sunday was more sunny. Temperature was from 7 C to 21 C. All the days, the visibility was very high. The wind speed was 0 to 2 m/s. In Sunday afternoon, the thermals were huge. Sunrise was at 06:20 and sunset was at 18:20. Sun was setting behind the mountains. For this reason, it was becoming invisible at 18:00. Twilight was starting at 17:50.
The field conditions were very good. The ground was green grass.
The organization was honest and friendly. Everything was on time. The time keeping was very correct. Organizer tried to the best for the competitors. The entry fee was 25-Euro for F1A, F1B and F1C contests. For the breakfast, there was sandwich. For the lunch, there was a very big burger in a very tasty bread. The organizer served breakfast and lunch free of charge. In addition, a t-shirt was given as s gift.
Macedonia Cup started at 08:30. Round duration was one hour. F1A flyoff started at 17:20. The weather was good. The thermals were not strong. Three competitors completed 6 minutes max time. F1B flyoff started at 17:50. The weather was poor. Svetozar Gostojic from Serbia was the winner with 347 seconds. F1A second flyoff was decided to be next morning. Junior F1A flier from Russia, Alexey Khoroshev was the winner with 460 seconds.
Niksic Cup started at 08:00. Weather was not easy for 4 minutes max. After the third round, the weather was sunnier and the thermals was huge. After 14:00, in the test flights the models were going to 200 meters up in 2 minutes.
An unbelievable flyoff:
The organizer tried to close the Niksic Cup contest on Sunday evening. For this purpose, organizer decided to start the flyoff as late as possible. Maximum time was 10 minutes.
F1A flyoff started at 17:35. There were nine fliers. We were expecting light thermal conditions as previous day. Almost all the fliers launched their models at 17.40. At the beginning, it was difficult to expect the 10 minutes flight. After a while, almost all the models started to rise up slowly. In a few minutes, seven models were flying in a large circle with 1 km. diameter. Matija Hrast from Slovenia was sad because his line was broken during the launch and his model was at 60 meters. However, his model did 10 minutes max at a very high altitude. When his model was DT, he was under his model. Alexey Khoroshev said his model DT at 800 meters altitude. The model retrieval was not difficult. I have never seen such a flight just before the sunset. In any case, it was very beautiful.
F1B flyoff started at 17:55. The weather was colder. There was a light breeze. After the huge thermal in F1A flyoff, a huge cold weather replaced the field. Almost all the fliers started in the down lift. Very experienced flier Maxim Solodov was telling his model did only 163 seconds that was unbelievable for him. Oleh Ishchenko from Ukraine was the winner.
Organizer decided to do the F1A second flyoff next morning. Next day morning flyoff possibility was clearly written in the official bulletin of the contest. Next day, Aviv Balassiano from Israel was the winner with 355 seconds.
I was very impresed by the juniors. Especially the girl fliers from Bulgaria were very serious and professional on the field.
Five years old F1G flier Vsevolod Shelepov from Montenegro was the mascot of the field. He was so cute.
10 years old, Vidak Veselinovic from Serbia was launching his F1H to 70-75 meters. He was second in Macedonia Cup and first in Niksic Cup. He is a real candidate to become a strong F1A flier. He is the grandson of great F1B flier Slobodan Milic.
Viktoria Peykova from Bulgaria is a little girl but her professionalism was great. She was first in Macedonian F1H contest with full result. She was second in Niksic Cup F1H contest. She was also flying the F1A successfully. She was missed the flyoff in Niksic Cup by just dropping second round.
Junior Kristina Ivanova from Bulgaria is always successful in flying F1A, F1B and F1H.
Junior F1B flier, Vanesa Veskova from Bulgaria was in the flyoff Macedonia and Niksic Cups.
Junior f1B flier, Aleksandar Cvetanovski from Macedonia is promising to be a very good F1B flier.
Moreover, a big congratulations to Junior F1A flier Alexey Khoroshev from Moscow/Russia. Although he is a junior flier, he is very professional pilot in F1A flying. His models were flying perfectly. He was controlling the model and feeling the air very successfully. He was launching correctly. His almost all starts are higher than 95 meters. He was the winner of Macedonia Cup. He was in the second flyoff of Niksic Cup. Because of his early flight to back to his country, he could not participate in the second flyoff.
I was very happy to be at Prilep. For this special weekend, many thanks to Zdravko and his friends.
Ismet Yurtseven

From: John Clapp
We had 18 contestants enjoy a very nice weekend at Andrew Barron’s Sod Farm in Wawayanda NY. Saturday was light wind and warm temperatures. Sunday was fogged in until 10:30 am which eliminated the Dawn contest, but the rest of the day was very nice with light and variable winds.

Am Cup update.
From : Jim Parker
There are only 8 contests remaining is this season with 3 of them being flown this weekend (Oct.7-8). I have not gotten the USFFC results.
Jama and Alex with 111 points each all but mathematically have F1A and F1B locked up.
Two ties of 100 points in F1H and F1Q. Bob Sifleet and I are tied in F1H but Ken Bauer is sitting in third with two 25 points and a 26 points. Bob Sifleet is tied with Jack Murphy in F1Q, current tie breaker goes to Bob.
Tiffaney is holding off Mike Richardson in F1G, they both have a 27 point win, Mike with a 25 point win would tie Tiff’s score but the current tie breaker would go to Tiff.
F1S has only one point difference between first and second. Lee Hines with 82 points followed by Julie Parker and Jack Murphy with 81 points each. The wins in F1S are scattered across the 17 flyers with Am Cup points. Will the 2017 winner have less than 4 wins (100 points)?
Jr Team Selection update
Jr team selection is going strong with several meeting the 3 AmCup contest requirements. The Jr team selection time period is through MaxMen 2018. Do note there are only 2 juniors competing for the three F1P positions. The USA Team Selection committee is ready to help with engines and even models. Contact me if interested.
