Fab Feb Update
Good news is that the field at Lost Hills is in great shape, we expected that the number of entries would be a bit down because of the recent World Champs but we over 130 and over 20 countries. Th recent and forecasted weather looks good. Some people will have seen the picture/video on FB of USA power flyer, Jeff Ellington having a trimming session at Lost Hill. It shows there is real green grass as it did rain somewhat before and around the Xmas Holiday time.
The bad news is that it looks like the recent corona virus out break and measures put in place may stop the Chinese “Team” from attending. There was already a minor issue related to calendar alignment. The group from China, it is not really an official country team, usually has quite a number of juniors, this being possible because of the school holidays connected to the Chinese New Year holiday period aligning with Fab Feb. This year the overlap between those date and the USA President’s Day holiday is not as much so they could attend the Kiwi and North American but not the MaxMen. Now it looks like they can’t come at all.
If you have not entered yet you should do so right way at https://forms.gle/eYWwE6Ds3xN435Jn9 . This applies to the FAI events including the Mini Events. While a FAI license is needed for the World Cup events it is not needed for the Mini events which are F1H,G,J and,S for all and F1P for seniors. F1P is the Junior Power class for the World Cup and World Champs.
Camping and parking will be at the ‘old’ parking area, not the one used at the World Champs.
In the Press
Excellent report in the AMA magazine, Model Aviation on the Lost Hills World Champs. Text by Jace Pivonka and photos by Brian Furutani. Good to see reports from new (young) names in print.
