Looking for a cheap Coupe for my grandson
From George Voss
I’m looking for a cheap Coupe for my grandson to fly. Doesn’t need to be state of the art and cheap is really good. Any help is greatly appreciated. George Voss

Regular rounds with 3 Joules/gram?From : Aram Schlosberg on FB
·
.
A query — how many Q contest this year have been flown to 3Joules/gram in the regular rounds?
.
Could you cite examples?
.
(With 2 Joules/gram, a geared Q model can reach 90 meters, more than enough for 3 and 4 minute flights.
Flying with 3 Joule/gram is equivalent to A flyers using 75 meter lines IMHO.)
Comment from : Mar Ci
I dont think A models would get higher with 75m lines. But anyway. For me its 50:50 some contests with 2J some with 3J.
Both fun but with 2J a bit more challenging.
Comment from: Aram Schlosberg
Agree that with 2J/gr Q contents are a bit more challenging. I would expect that the portions of Q flyers reaching the flyoffs would be similar to B models (90 meters in 40 seconds), that above 50% would reach the flyoffs and that very few drop the 6-minute max.
.
With 3J/gr (135 meter in 30 seconds) I would expect that 95% of the Q fliers will be in the first Flyoff. Putting it bluntly — an organizational nightmare.
Comment: Omri Sirkis
Aram Schlosberg IMO the 90 meters you get with 2j on a Q, worth more in a competition situation than an F1B with the same climb potential, because the Qmodel climbs with a constant climb rate and will climb higher in a downer, aB model have low climb rate in the last 10 seconds or so and usually wil not clime at all in this situation.
Comment : Per Grunnet
The performance of good F1Q-models is so high that flying a three minutes max with 3 joule/gram is too easy. I will prefer 2 joule/gram to make the rounds a little challenging.
Please notice that it is possible to build your models yourself and be competitive in F1Q!

Too complicated

I just got this response from Mihaly Varadi (Hungary, Q manufacturer.)
“Here in Europe we compete with 2 J in all competitions”.
Comment from: Omri Sirkis
Here in Israel we use 3J for the rounds, and 2 for flyoffs. I , personally prefer 2J for the rounds as well, but few sportsmen don’t agree as tne rule still specify 3J . This makes the rounds a formality, causing crowded flyoffs.
Comment from: Aram Schlosberg
Omri Sirkis ,
Currently, the rules require a CONSENSUS to reduce the regular rounds to 2J/gr. This grants the weak flyers a VETO power and contests boil down to a Flyoff flight. Simply put — boring ?????).
.
The rules in ’25 eliminate the Veto power. The decision rests with the contest director or the jury. …. But a degree of AMBIGUITY still lingers. Hopefully, a 2J/gr ruling across the board will be announced at the next rule cycle.
